Penguins.

Wow - I'm not doing so hot on keeping up with this. My problem seems to be taking pictures and downloading in a timely fashion to then write and post. Hmmm...that's a lot of work!

The craft fair went so-so unfortunately. But on the positive side, I have owls and elephants just waiting to go to good homes. I will be FINALLY posting my first ever goodies to my Etsy store. Okay...now to figure that out!

In the meantime, here's a preview of this years Degner Christmas Card. I scanned in some favourite papers, drew up some penguins et voila! The inside has a picture of my little bean and some fun text. I'm still tweaking the text and will post once finished.

New Year's Resolution - get with the program!!!

Sew Lovely

Getting geared up for the first craft show I've participated in since Logan was born. I'm super excited, stressed, and hopeful that people will like what I have to offer. Here's the label I've come up with for the dresses...not sure about the sketchy font.

What do you think?

Bowen Shares

The little island I live on, Bowen Island, has started a new non-profit organization called 'Bowen Shares'. Our community has come together to raise money to re-build an orphanage in Ghana that was on the brink of being shut down. This orphanage came to our attention when a great Bowen Gal, Jen, moved to Ghana with her family.

I was asked to design a poster for the organization and perhaps some more collateral later on. This is what I came up with.

Report Card Time

My little guy turned two at the beginning of April. The majority of our family live back East and are unable to take part in these special occasions. So, I decided that starting NOW I would begin sending annual report cards out to friends and family that we do not get the chance to visit with as much as we would like too. Just a little something to keep everyone in the loop.

So here it is:
I had the fronts printed on photo paper and the back, I printed from home on 80lb white card stock. I'll be spray gluing the fronts and backs together (my weekend project) and sending them out in a 4x6 glassine envelope with a little tinfoil star sticker (remember those from school). I'll post pictures of the completed project. Oh...and the sock monkey I made!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

WELCOME!

Please allow me to formally introduce myself. My  name is Kirsten, and I am a full-time mother to a beautiful little blonde haired, blue eyed little boy, Logan age 2.5. He is the centre of my universe. I am also a wife, dog owner, cat owner and fish owner.
When not running after a toddler, or tripping over playmobile dinosaurs, I am a graphic designer for a little company I run called Studio 947 . Mostly printed material, with a bit of web design thrown in there for good measure. My design style is meticulous with an organic flair. I am very inspired by my surroundings. Whether it's walking through our island's lush rainforests or beachcombing on the seashore, my design and craft work soak up the world around me. I am blessed to be raising my son on one of the most beautiful places on earth.
This love of design, has blossomed into many other forms that appeal to both my meticulous side and organic. I LOVE creating with my hands, whether it's sewing, painting or accumulating bits and pieces to later turn into one of a kind collages. I can't get enough!
Now that my little bean is in pre-school two mornings a week, I have been able to re-connect with my old self, and bring in more design projects, as well as, delve back into my crafts that I have missed like crazy.
I am excited to see where this next chapter in my life leads. Please join me on this journey.
